Here we go again!
It's that time of the year, when Preston has its very own Cannes Film Festival, aka LIFE festival.
The Lancashire International Film Festival is back! This will be my fourth festival since 2010, and it's always an exciting time. Film makers, both emerging and established travel to Preston and show off their work. And quite rightly so!
I'm doing my bit. Last year, "Placebo" was screened at the opening night's event. This year, "Malcolm the Man" is being shown on Saturday, 5th April, at the Future Film Makers event. (12pm at The Green Screen Cinema in Preston.)
I'm also hosting the show on Saturday, and I'm really looking forward to it. In preparation for the event, I've been given all ten films to watch, and OH MY GOD, they're good. Some absolute beauties in there. I can't say too much, but there's an excellent film by Liam Swann which makes me hungry for Eggs.
I'll be interviewing the film makers after each screening, talking about their time making the movies. I must remember the remain professional and NOT fan boy out on them.
The event is also great for networking.
Each year there are one-to-ones and pitching sessions. This year, film maker Simon Powell, director of "Girl Shaped Love Drug" will be doing a session. If you have any questions, or need any advice about how to get into the industry, this is a great opportunity.
Barbara Wilcox will be presenting her four films this evening. Every year so far, it's become tradition for Barbara (along with Sarah Evans) to produce monologue performances for the festival, but this year things are a-changing! Director Wilcox is moving into the film world. The four movies were made over four weeks, with a hard working cast and crew. I can't wait to witness the magic Barbara has produced for the third year in a row.
"When the Music Stops" will be screened at the Greenbank Building at 7:30pm.
Other events includes an interview with Oscar Nominee Mark Gill and an Animation Symposium featuring Cbeebies Exec Jackie Edwards.

And finally, a special mention goes to Ric Michael, the director of the event. If it wasn't for him, the last four years wouldn't have happened. (Specially LIFE, not the entire four years, that'd be ridiculous.)
Get your business cards and leaflets ready!
